Strange case of the banned cures for Covid

-

I FELT sorry for PM Boris Johnson. I sensed a reluctance to impose unprecedented restrictions on the country at large. It would be the first major breach of the birthright freedoms we had enjoyed for as long as I could remember. It did seem, however, that a significant proportion of people were agitating for him to shut the country down.

As a parent with school-age children, I had not observed or heard anything alarming in the school communities I was connected to. My lay person reflections and analysis questioned the logic of closing schools in late March 2020 to shelter from a virus that had been circulating globally for at least five months from all indications. In any event, it was not up to me or other like-minded people to decide.

Within days of the lockdown commencing, a close relative caught the virus. They were not prescribed any treatment except some antibiotics (which were not effective) and they began to deteriorate. A family friend offered them hydroxychloroquine which proved to be a game-changer.

What a huge relief! First of all, my relative was making an amazing recovery. Second, this was great news for me and my family: there was no need to be fearful as there was a therapy that worked. Third, this was good news for the wider community and authorities as this therapy could be offered to the general public as needed. There was no longer any reason to live in fear and paranoia about catching the virus since it could be nipped in the bud with early treatment.

I literally skipped to the pharmacist to inquire how I could access hydroxychloroquine. I could not believe my ears when she told me that her regulatory body had written to her and her colleagues barring them from dispensing it. I pressed her further – what if I provided a private prescription? She said it would not change anything.

I was in shock. My mind was reeling with the implications of what I had just heard. There was something with the potential to help but for some reason access was being withheld. What was going on? Who was behind this? The bottom line was that I had to figure something out on my own to protect myself and my family. I decided I was not going to leave my fate in the hands of some sinister nameless faceless wannabe demigod.

I called a close relative abroad and explained what was happening and asked them to source hydroxychloroquine for me.

When I began to hear it being vilified in the media, I was flabbergasted. I was very familiar with chloroquine and its derivatives from the years I spent in West Africa. It was used widely for the treatment of malaria there. Not to mention that it is used here in the UK for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

How come all of a sudden it was being portrayed as dangerous and toxic? My, my, the plot was thickening fast.

Subsequently I began to hear about the importance of zinc, vitamin C and vitamin D in boosting our immune systems and neutralising the virus. Scientists including Dolores Cahill, Sucharit Bhakdi and Mike Yeadon, all eminent in their fields, provided credible counter-arguments to the prevailing public health strategy (or lack thereof) and harms of the lockdown and other measures.

It was very compelling but something strange began to unfold. Instead of robust debate and scrutiny of the government approach, the concerns being raised were suppressed and the people raising them censored and vilified.

Doctors, here and in the US, who were endeavouring to help patients infected with the virus using repurposed approved therapies such as hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, budesonide etc, were being sacked or threatened with disciplinary measures.

It was utterly bizarre to witness this. Important informative interviews would disappear from the main social media platforms as the powers that be took them down citing ‘breach of community guidelines’.

As I reflect on all that has transpired since March 2020, even though I am thankful that I saw clearly that something sinister was afoot, it grieves me deeply that so many people met an untimely demise when they could have been given access to repurposed approved therapies and supplements. To make matters worse, the people who sounded the alarm were vilified and ostracised in the most vicious ways possible. I can only conclude that something diabolical and depraved was going on and all indications are that the orchestrators/perpetrators (whoever they may be) are not done.
