Reader’s Comment of the Week
In response to Andrew Cadman: Corbyn may be a joke. But the Left can console itself with its triumph over social conservatives, The Git at the Gobshites Rest wrote:
The truth here is that the Conservative Party is misnamed. On social issues it applies cultural Marxist policies with gay abandon. Any conservatives out there who genuinely believe that that the Tories are in any way conservative are completely delusional. Margaret Thatcher’s tenure in office proved to be a disaster. She further emeshed the country into the European nightmare. She was too scared to take on the educational establishment. She ceded control of vast swathes of the public sector to polytechnic Marxism.
TCW Hero of the Week
The chaos in Calais continues as we head into the weekend. The French authorities seem to be doing very little. David Cameron has convened Cobra and is sending in the dogs.
Maybe Roger Helmer had a better suggestion? The Ukip MEP for the East Midlands, a former Tory, mused on Twitter that we could rewind to 1558 and take Calais back. It’s not the worst idea in the world.
TCW Villain of the Week
With Jeremy Corbyn leading the Labour leadership race, the original favourite Andy Burnham seems to be getting desperate. He accused David Cameron this week of “dog-whistle” politics for using the term “swarm” to describe the mass of migrants storming the channel tunnel.
What else is it, Mr Burnham? You don’t usually find this website supporting Dave, but on this the PM’s description was dead right. The soft touch of politicians like Burnham towards immigration is why we’re in the mess we are in.
