Reader’s Comment of the Week
In response to Kathy Gyngell: Lessons in BBC Newspeak. Don’t say pro-abortion, say pro-choice, Otto Crum wrote:
“Abortion is just one factor in the inability of the West to bring into being the next generation. The whole liberal cultural world view is a single generation indulgence.
It is this that will finally bring our culture to an end. Extinction or more probably replacement.”
TCW Hero of the Week
Former Defence Secretary Liam Fox gave a fine example of the talent that exists in the Brexit ranks this week. His rebutting of David Cameron’s claim that ‘The Jungle’ would move from Calais to Kent was as principled as it was punchy.
He denounced the PM’s comments as a “complete red herring” and an example of the “ridiculous, scaremongering tactics” used by the Remain campaign (dubbed the ‘Remainians’ by Fox earlier this week).
We’re going to need figures such as Fox to call out these tactics as the looming referendum battle hots up, but Brexit should be glad to have the former MoD man Fox in their armoury.
TCW Villain of the Week
This week, with her ‘Minister for Wimmin and Equalities’ hat on, Nicky Morgan continued to press ahead with the nonsense of the gender pay gap.
In a classic example of the PC State’s overweening intervention, Morgan called upon “women across Britain to use their position as employees and consumers to demand more from businesses, ensuring their talents are given the recognition and reward they deserve”.
How about this for a thought, Nicky – people can get a pay rise if they are good at their job, regardless of their ability to tick a box?
