Reader’s Comment of the Week:
In response to Paul T Horgan: Want to slay Salmond’s tartan dragon? Want to preserve the UK? Vote Conservative, Oliver J.S McMullen wrote:
No! Voting Tory will not save the union. This article is a good example of the self-interested electoral scare tactics the Tories typically employ. It is the Tories as much as Labour who, for a very long time now, took Scotland for granted. And when the Tories were wiped out in Scotland they didn’t seem to care. Their cavalier attitude to Scotland enabled the rise of the likes of Salmond and it is they who have wrecked the Union. If the SNP do as well as expected there will have to be another referendum within the next five or ten years whoever gains office. And the next time Scotland will leave.
It seems to me we must now look to England’s future since we have effectively lost any say over Scotland’s.
Hero of the Week: Easyjet
True to form, the bloody French were on strike this week.
Socialist led France loves a good strike and this week it was the turn of the French air traffic controllers, leaving thousands of people stranded.
Easyjet had almost 600 flights cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday as a result of the strikes.
The budget airline have set up a series of ‘rescue flights’ beginning by repatriating three groups of school children left high and dry by the French authorities.
Good on Easyjet for doing their bit and mopping up after the feckless French.
Villain of the Week: Huw Thomas
More evidence emerged this week that Labour hate England.
Just two days ago Huw Thomas, Labour’s candidate for Ceredigion was calling for the resignation of Plaid candidate Mike Parker for an article 14 years ago in which Parker said “many English migrants into rural Wales are out and out racists”.
48 hours later and the tables have turned.
It turns out that Mr Thomas had also made some less than pleasant remarks about the English back in 2006, when he called people who flew the English flag “simpletons” and “casual racists”.
Huw went on to say, “Agree that it’s completely sickening how many England flags are to be seen around Wales. It truly shows the degree our society has been infiltrated by incomers who are not ready to integrate.”
Charming! – Labour seem to have a genuine hatred for the English flag.
