After a dreadful campaign and some abysmal results, the glimmer of joy during the Conservatives’ election night was the performance of Ruth Davidson’s Tories north of the border. They took the tiresome SNP to task, seizing 12 of their seats and dislodging some of Westminster’s biggest Mcfoes, not least the perennially smug Alex Salmond, Angus Robertson and Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh. We should seize any good news we can from the dire events of the last few weeks…

A record 72 per cent of students and young people turned out to vote on Friday, the vast majority of them toeing the line of their Trot teachers. If anything is an indictment of our education system, it is the sheer number of brainwashed students who opted for Jeremy Corbyn. It should alarm us. This lot bothering to get out of bed for once was what gave real power to Comrade Corbyn’s elbow.
