LAST week, it is reported, the New Orleans District Attorney, Jason Williams, was carjacked at gunpoint: ‘Williams was helping his mother into a black Lincoln Navigator when he was approached by two men with high-powered automatic rifles.’
So what? Isn’t this an everyday occurrence? Well, yes it is, now, as a result of Williams’s Soros-inspired decriminalisation policy. Yes, his campaign for office was backed by George Soros; he was just one of many woke ‘de-policing’ District Attorneys Soros funded who have let criminals run amok.
The 92-year-old philanthropist has spent a cool $40million or more installing some 75 prosecutors who supported his leftist agenda – either with outright donations or fuelled through political action committees.
Now with bail laws stripped away and crime prosecution forgone, cities such as Williams’s New Orleans are in the grip of a crime epidemic.
No wonder. In the months following his election victory, Williams dismissed 937 of the city’s 1,411 violent crime cases. In 2021 he dismissed 74 per cent of felony cases, with only 4 per cent resulting in guilty-as-charged convictions, according to a report by the Metropolitan Crime Commission. The number only slightly improved in 2023, when 7 per cent of the 343 criminal cases received by Williams’s office between January and April resulted in guilty-as-charged convictions.
