ARE the Cabinet listening? Yesterday Paul Goodman, the editor of Conservative Home, asked the question we have been putting for weeks.
It was prompted by the latest Conservative Home poll which found that a record proportion of nearly eight out of ten Conservative Party members say that May should announce now that she will resign.
Again as we have repeatedly pointed out, Goodman comments that each day only gets worse for her. Indeed. And for the country. If there was ever proof of that adage about deferring the evil moment we have been living it, not just these last weeks and months, but now into years.
How many more will it be before the sadly lacking in the judgement, character and strength of mind needed by a party chairman, Brandon Lewis, exerts his authority and speaks out for the party and faces the Cabinet with the brutal truth? That now is not too soon to topple May. That she must go before she does even more damage.
At TCW we have been counting and will continue to count the days until he does.
Today is Day 18 . . .
Editor’s postscript.
In the meanwhile Brandon Lewis’s ‘head in the sand’ Happy Easter message has landed in Conservative Party members’ email boxes. No, we didn’t make it up. You couldn’t:
‘You might celebrate the religious side of the holiday. Or you might just enjoy the chocolate.
But however you choose to spend your time, I hope you have a great Easter.
It’s hard to believe we’re already this far into the year. In just over a week, we will have local elections across much of England.
When you’re recycling your Easter egg boxes, remember that Conservative councils across the country recycle more than Labour ones.
That’s one more reason to vote Conservative on the 2nd of May.
Happy Easter!
