This insane and destructive government must be sacked

-

POLICE brutality once again rocked London on Saturday afternoon, recalling scenes from Belarus or Iran, hours after a delusional Michael Gove reiterated the big lie of his government in a brittle and defensive article in the Times. Now the duty of every individual of conscience and integrity in the House of Commons could not be clearer. The government have lost any vestige of political authority and all connection with reality. They must be humiliated in today’s vote before being removed from power.

Like pilots passed out in the cockpit of a stalling plane, MPs must wake up and recognise the urgency of the situation. Britain today is crashing headlong into a state of totalitarianism and government by propaganda, lies and harassment.  Apparatchiks, drunk with power and insulated from the effect of their decisions, assert that it is within their remit to ’allow’ people to spend Christmas with their families on the basis of their own deranged exaggerations of the threat posed by a virus responsible for excess mortality similar to the flu epidemic in 1999/2000, an average age of death of 82 and a negligible to non-existent infection mortality ratio for anyone under 65.

The Johnson government’s refrain that it is ‘following the science’ could not be further from the truth. Science is a form of reasoning which constructs hypotheses on the basis of a calm consideration of the facts. What the government is following are the pseudo-scientific claims of expertise by charlatans and crackpots, riddled with conflicted interests, who have demonstrated nothing in the last nine months to suggest authoritative judgement.

Scientific thinking could do with being applied to the policies of the government itself. The essence of a public health policy is to protect the public from disease in general, not a single sickness. Yet the determination to defeat this virus has become an obsession and almost a religion, with their prophecies of doom, ascetic renunciations, and special garments now mandated by a ‘scientific’ priesthood to ward away a fearsome enemy who might otherwise return at any moment.

It is now clear that the British government’s policy of lockdown has provoked a mental health epidemic across the United Kingdom. What has not yet been fully understood is that the epicentre of this ‘messing with people’s minds’ is the government itself.

What else explains why this government continues to insist upon a policy which has caused so much devastation and achieved so little good? Looking closely at Rishi Sunak one can see that on some level he knows that something has gone badly wrong. He should consult his conscience and resign.

The facts must be reiterated until this delusion is destroyed. There is no evidence that lockdowns, this extraordinary and unprecedented policy, has had any positive effect on ‘controlling the virus’ in Britain or elsewhere, and no evidence that they were ever necessary.

Nothing supported enacting a lockdown in March except the hyperbolic models of Neil Ferguson, an accredited utensil of the Gates Foundation, wrong on every judgement he has ever made.

No scientific case supported the lockdown in November, when a lockdown was enacted on the basis of faked data and doomsday propaganda presented by Chris Witty and Patrick Vallance, and there is no case for enacting a tiered lockdown now, as infection rates even from the notoriously unreliable PCR tests continuing to fall. Elsewhere on these pages today the PCR myth is taken apart by Dr Mike Yeadon.

Nor has a scientific case been made. There’s also no scientific evidence which supports the guidance to wear masks, as the Danish mask study recently showed

These policies were not enacted on the basis of deliberate judgements made by carefully assessing all the facts, risks, costs and benefits, but as the product of the same reckless spirit that has piloted the government through the ocean of corruption, death and failure which has defined their record over the last nine months. So far, the bill stands at four hundred billion pounds, the shredding of constitutional precedents stretching back centuries, the destruction of the livelihoods of millions, and thousands of deaths attributable to the negligence of Hancock as a result of his decision to send infected patients into care homes where residents were effectively abandoned in the early stages of the pandemic. (Between 2 March and 12 June this year 28,186 ‘excess deaths’ were recorded in care homes in England, and over 18,500 care home residents confirmed to have died with Covid-19 during this period.)

This destruction has been enacted by the government, not by the virus, through a panicked reaction to media hysteria, followed by an opportunistic exploitation of the situation, followed by evasiveness, and lies giving birth to lies as the scale of the catastrophe which the government has generated started to become obvious, and their concern became concealment and deception.

Today, the government is proposing yet another lockdown, following the failure of the first and second lockdowns, this time projected to last until the spring, when last spring the government was calling for a lockdown for three weeks. The proposal, along with every further statement by this shameful government on any matter, should be rejected with contempt.

Whether Johnson and his cabinet are simply no longer able to distinguish between fantasy and reality, or they are serving a more sinister agenda than their own corruption and self-interest, the conclusion is the same. There can be doubt that Johnson’s word is worth absolutely nothing, and his government’s capacity for solving anything is zero.

This government has presided over the greatest political catastrophe since World War One and must be restrained by Parliament and urgently removed from power before causing further damage.

More noble men by this point in the past would have already committed suicide. What is happening instead is total ethical and intellectual abdication. The atmosphere of unreality which has descended on the nation comes straight from Downing Street. What is called the new normal is in reality a pseudo-normal produced by a collapse in the government’s faculty of judgment, as fear substitutes for thought and mixed-metaphors and mantras replace reasoned speech. What is called ’the virus’ is the syndrome of insanity which has infected everyone in central government, as well as other institutions in the country. When the government declare ‘we must control the virus’ what they are referring to is the mirror of their broken minds, and the deteriorating political and social situation they have created.

All lockdown restrictions should end immediately on December 2 and a public inquiry launched into this disaster. The events of the last nine months leave no room for doubt: there is no limit to the destruction of which this government is capable, and no question that it is worse than any virus. It must be removed from power as soon as possible, and no recovery will be possible until that happens.

Individuals of courage and conviction in the House of Commons should begin working explicitly towards this outcome by voting against the government on today.
