THE security process known as two-step authentication is taking over and shutting us out of our lives. Why is no one ringing the alarm bells?
It seems to have quietly and suddenly crept up on us and taken over. Now everything from paying online, to eBay, to my Apple Mac email account, requires two-step authentication, and more and more companies are joining the crowd. Suddenly I must have a smartphone to access my email or other online accounts.
2FA (2 factor authentication) sends a code to your phone which you enter into the site you’re trying to access. Without the code, no access.
We are not given a choice to switch off 2FA, so are forced to have our phones with us at all times. You may not see that as a problem now, but you will if for some reason you don’t have the use of your phone, for example if it is out of power, is broken, you lose it, you forget it, or simply don’t want or have a smartphone. With 2FA and without a smartphone there is no way to access your emails or pay for something. You cannot answer a simple message on eBay, nothing! You are locked out of your online life.
Do we really want to live with this level of security and control over simple everyday functions, such as accessing our emails? It actually becomes dangerous. If you lose your phone and want to send an email from your Apple Mac account requesting help from a family member or friend, you can’t. Ironically you can’t even email Apple. But if we apathetically accept the forward march of AI and unnecessarily tighter control under the guise of ‘safety’ we will be slaves (even more than we are already) to the smartphone.
And what comes next? To be told we must be chipped so we are never without our smart AI security access to our accounts? So that no one can steal your ‘inbuilt’ phone and you will always have access to your ‘life’? Chipping will be the next step after 2FA if we accept this ‘security creep’ as the norm.
The fact that more and more of the largest media and corporate companies are introducing 2FA at the same time without a method or option of turning it off rings alarm bells. Are they being told something we are not? Is 2FA a step towards a new AI digital world that is being planned for us in conjunction with digital ID and Central Bank Digital Currencies, forcing us into an ever-increasing Orwellian direction we don’t want to go in?
The time is now to complain to these companies and your MPs to get these systems reversed. We must always be given a choice to turn off these extra layers of AI security that ultimately lead to our enslavement to machines in order to function in daily life.
