THERE are no more words. There can be no more chances.
The premiership of Liz Truss, which had almost no national credibility to begin with, is done, over, finished.
So is the credibility of the Conservatives as a party of government. The farce of last week underlined more dramatically than ever that our country’s future is not safe in their hands. Any remnant reputation for sound economic management trashed, its contempt for its grassroots membership transparent and unashamed, this broke and woke party’s time is up.
The Prime Minister is responsible for the continuous chaos of the last few weeks and the devastation caused by her mini-Budget, now with the unrivalled humiliation of another U-turn and being forced into sacking her long-term ally Kwasi Kwarteng. The solution she offered is a new Chancellor who is a pro-China, globalist Remainer. He has already reversed her low-tax-high-growth mantra and reverted to the establishment type of high tax and high spend.
This means Liz Truss clinging to power makes her one of the most fraudulent Prime Ministers in British history.
She campaigned to cut taxes but now she is raising taxes. She promised to take on the anti-growth coalition but now she has joined it. She promised to promote Brexit but has appointed an arch-Remainer, Jeremy Hunt, as Chancellor. There is no mandate for this.
The only way this mess can be sorted out once and for all is democratically, by going to the country. It’s time for a General Election so that the people can have their say.
Let’s be very clear about one thing. However much the public will now want to sweep the Tories out of power, millions of them will not want to hand control of our country to a pro-EU Labour Party, led by another Islington elite, who have no answers to our economic crisis and who could very quickly undo the Brexit that we have spent over two decades securing.
The Tories have destroyed themselves. Only Reform UK can be trusted to push forward a high-growth-low-tax vision by helping the lowest-paid and small businesses the most. Only Reform UK can be trusted with saving and maximising Brexit. Only Reform UK can be trusted to stop the boats daily crossing the Channel and the Tory mania for mass migration. Only Reform UK can be trusted to work towards the energy security the country so desperately needs.
Our great nation is sitting on a century of cheap British energy treasure owned by us all. We can be self-reliant for energy as we were for 25 years after 1980. Yet the main parties either do not want to use it or do not know how. Cheap energy drives everything. The future of Britain depends on accessing this treasure as soon as possible. It is in our strategic national interest. If we do not then we will be finished as a serious economic powerhouse within a decade or so.
I’ve said all along that at the next election, it is up to us to offer a pro-Brexit, pro-growth alternative to the tired Westminster establishment. To do that, we are acting quickly to ensure we are ready to stand in more than 600 constituencies. I’m incredibly proud that we already have well over 300 candidates allocated, but now we need to secure the balance, to make sure that we can offer a real democratic option to every voter: a candidate who really believes in the possibilities of a post-Brexit Britain.
There really is no time to lose. Britain needs Reform UK and Reform UK needs you, now more than ever.
