DURING the last week radio, television and newspapers have been obsessing over the court case between the actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Who to believe, who not to believe, how terrible the various testimonies are, yadda yadda yadda.
Why do people care about this? Why take up valuable minutes or column inches discussing what, for me, should be a private affair? The way some people are discussing the events of this divorce/abuse trial is bizarre, like stopping at some hideous road accident to watch the bodies being pulled out of the wreckage.
Would we, Mr and Mrs Joe Public, be happy having our very private lives plastered everywhere, for perfect strangers to make judgement about our actions and behaviour? No, we wouldn’t. Some might say that because they’re in the public eye, what’s going on in their case is important but important to whom?
I couldn’t give a damn about this case and what celebrities choose to do in their lives, and I reckon I’m not alone in that.
Feel free to discuss this or anything else on your mind.
