RUMOURS that the government is planning to axe inheritance tax have been fuelled by Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick, who said it was ‘particularly unpopular’ (not a high bar) because in effect it taxes people twice. About one estate in 20 is liable and the Treasury benefits by £5billion a year.
