BRITISH singer Ellie Goulding was forced to beat a humiliating retreat this week after threatening the American Salvation Army over its attitude to the LGBT cause.
Goulding, describing herself as a ‘committed philanthropist’, said she would pull out of a half-time performance at a Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving football game unless the Salvationists made a pledge or donation to the LGBT community.
Fans had apparently convinced the naïve 32-year-old that the Salvation Army discriminates against gays. But the organisation responded by highlighting its work helping everyone who needs it, regardless of sexuality, forcing Goulding to withdraw her ultimatum.
So was she right to venture into politics or should she stick to singing? Discuss!
