FOR 50 years Monty Python has been revered as one of the funniest shows of all time.
Now it turns out that some BBC executives had grave reservations when it was launched in 1969. They called the show ‘disgusting’, ‘sadistic’ and ‘simply not amusing’. One said its values were ‘nihilistic and cruel’.
Was the show as funny as its fans claim, or were the BBC chiefs right? Discuss!
