THE founder of a society to protect the apostrophe has closed it down, declaring that ignorance and laziness has won.
Retired journalist John Richards, 96, said: ‘Fewer organisations and individuals are now caring about the correct use of the apostrophe in the English language.’
Does correct punctuation, and indeed spelling and grammar, matter if you can make yourself understood? Discuss! (We hope that our reader Aberrant Apostrophe will have a view.)
