WITH energy bills to increase by as much as £600 per household per year from April, two suppliers have judged the time right to offer advice to their customers on keeping warm.
Ovo Energy suggested ‘doing a few star jumps’ and cuddling pets.
E.On Next, an arm of the energy giant which sells and promotes renewable electricity, sent out pairs of socks with a message encouraging people to leave ‘lighter footprints’ by turning heating down.
Both firms have apologised abjectly. However coming on the heels of revelations about umpteen parties in Downing Street in defiance of Covid regulations set by Downing Street, notably on the eve of the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, it is hard not to think that in the higher echelons there is contempt for the little people.
