WITH the cost of living soaring sky-high, most of us will have to prioritise our spending carefully from now on. But it’s an eye-opener what people consider essential.
Remarkably, research by telecommunications company Lebara reveals that many of us are willing to cut back on heating, takeaways, holidays and the gym to ensure we can still afford our mobile phones.
However, almost half of Britons use 5GB or less data each month, and could save money by switching to a plan which matches their usage, the firm says.
But why should we be scrimping and saving at all? The cost of living crisis is not the fault of the ordinary hard-working man or woman – for the most part, it’s down to politicians with their profligate spending, mind-boggling waste and vainglorious money-pit projects.
Meanwhile, the fat cats, oligarchs and billionaires are still raking it in as they fly their private jets and sail their mega-yachts to their multiple homes and tax havens. Isn’t it time they were made to feel the squeeze like the rest of us? And shouldn’t our MPs tighten their belts?
Feel free to discuss this and anything else on your mind.
