IF YOU thought #UKGOV couldn’t fall any lower in its campaign of Covid terror after its ‘you are a biohazard’ public information advertisement, ‘Act like you have got it. Anyone can spread it‘, think again.
It just has, with a new series of TV ads described as ‘hard-hitting’ launched on Friday evening on ITV and Channel 4, asking Britons if they ‘can look coronavirus patients in the eye’. Exploitative, sensational, propagandist would be better adjectives.
The first features Covid-19 patients and the staff looking after them at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. It begins with a room full of doctors trying to save someone in intensive care before showing the faces of those very ill with the virus and the medics taking care of them. They remain silent, staring at the viewer, before a voice asks: ‘Can you look them in the eyes and tell them you’re doing all you can to stop the spread of Covid-19?’
You know what I think of it.
Elsewhere @britom1947 thinks that it’s ‘Deliberate policy on advice of behavioural scientists to allow the government to take away our personal liberty & freedom whilst taking more and more unaccountable control for itself.’
Is this government by deliberate fear and panic?
Feel free to discuss this and anything else on your mind.
