THE Sunday Times reports that the Church of England is considering cutting the number of paid clergy as it fears that a fifth of worshippers will not return after virus restrictions are lifted.

Perhaps if senior clergy had not ordered churches to lock out their congregations and indeed their parish priests at the time they were most needed, worshippers would not be drifting away.
