THIS week we were told that parents may have to earn their child’s place back in the classroom by testing them for coronavirus twice a week – or more, in essence, giving them something close to a ‘passport’ of their own. It is said this ‘thorough testing regime’ will help the return to school be a seamless transition, a statement which casually and condescendingly disregards the high daily cost children have already had to pay by being subjected to these isolating, lengthy and unnecessary lockdowns. Elsewhere on TCW today Will Jones exposes the irrationality of such an intervention – one that will put thousands of healthy children into isolation again, back at home in quarantine, missing ever more weeks of schooling.
Yesterday our co-editor Laura Perrins roundly condemned it as Government-sponsored child abuse.
Now we want to hear from you, our readers.
As we have repeatedly said on TCW, we have sacrificed our children at the altar of Covid 19, and this is completely wrong. Haven’t children been put through quite enough already without making their parents treat them as potentially sick on a daily basis, instilling fear and anxiety in perfectly healthy children and teenagers? What of the children whose parents don’t or won’t do this – are they to be excluded?
Or would you be happy to test your child, or to see your grandchildren tested by their parents, in the hope they might finally be permitted to return to their school?
We look forward to hearing your views.
