HOW is he still getting away with it? Neil Ferguson, aka ‘Professor Lockdown’, was doubling down on his flawed predictions again on Friday, this time telling us not travel abroad this summer and doom-mongering about the South African Covid variant, which he says ‘we really do want to keep out of the UK’.
We wonder when, if ever, he will grasp the science and accept that ‘to date, no robust scientific evidence proves that any of the variants identified are more transmissible or deadly than the original’ and that ‘by definition, variants are clinically identical’. If he and the ministers foolish enough to listen to him would take the trouble to read Dr Yeadon’s masterly analysis they would realise that ‘closing international borders will not stop new mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus circulating in the population. It is a futile endeavour with no scientific basis.’
We wonder, too, when will the government finally face how pointless and destructively wrong this modern-day Rasputin’s advice – brutally dismembered here – has been and continues to be?
