You may be going on a summer holiday
No more working for a week or two
But when you get back from your summer holiday
You’ll find Priti’s checking up on you.
Yes, folks, the Home Secretary is sending out an army of officials to give returning families ‘a knock on the door’ and check they’re keeping to their ten-day quarantine if they’ve been to an ‘amber list’ country.
They have the capacity to carry out 10,000 home visits a day and 30,000 visits were conducted last week.
Miss Patel told the Daily Mail: ‘People will not go unchecked. Significant resources have been put in place – millions of pounds – in terms of the follow-up checking of people around their testing and making sure they stay at home.’
So there you have it – another few million of taxpayers’ pounds spent. Well, it’s a drop in the ocean compared to the multi-zillions we’ve already lavished on lockdown. But couldn’t Priti save the money, put the officials to work on something useful and let holidaymakers endure their house arrest in peace?
Feel free to discuss this and anything else on your mind.
