Today’s talking point: The benefits of digital currency

-

WE are told there will be many benefits from the introduction of digital currency, which will lead to the end of cash. For example, faster transfer of money from my account to yours, and the capacity to spot illegal activities.

There are other advantages. An individual’s behaviour can be monitored to ensure they receive the very best benefits from their spending. For example, if I seek to buy some attractive fast food the system may deny me permission, thus protecting me from an unhealthy lifestyle. Or it may allow me to have it but charge extra; the additional money going to the government to support the health service.

Additionally, the authorities will be able to stop transfers of money to organisations which peddle ‘fake news’ such as TCW, the Daily Sceptic and many more.

Which politician, businessman or individual could possibly find faults with such a wonderful scheme?
