US progressives take a knock

IT WAS heartening to read that Coca-Cola has quietly removed its Black Lives Matter support from its website. Ted Cruz, the former Republican Presidential candidate tweeted the evidence a couple of days ago:

Blowback against progressivism has hit elsewhere. Several US philanthropic donors have had enough of the students at the universities they have been funding. As reported in the Epoch Times, the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) is facing a decline in financial backing because of its responses to the Israel-Hamas war and alleged anti-Semitism on campus: ‘Billionaire Clifford Asness, a UPenn alumnus, is the latest major donor to close off his checkbook from the Ivy League school. In a letter to UPenn President Elizabeth Magill on Oct. 16 shared on X, Mr. Asness condemned the school for deviating from freedom of thought and expression. He specifically pointed out the school’s hosting of a Palestinian literature festival in September, calling it an “antisemitic Burning Man festival”.’

Some of Harvard’s billionaire funders have cut ties following the university’s initial failure to condemn a statement from student groups blaming Israel for the Hamas terror attacks. The Epoch Times says: ‘The Wexner Foundation, a nonprofit founded by billionaire Leslie Wexner and his wife Abigail, has broken ties with Harvard University over the school’s response to the Hamas terror attacks against Israelis and to an anti-Israel statement issued by student groups. “We are stunned and sickened at the dismal failure of Harvard’s leadership to take a clear and unequivocal stand against the barbaric murders of innocent Israeli civilians by terrorists last Saturday,” the Wexner Foundation’s leadership wrote to the Harvard board of overseers, in an Oct. 16 letter obtained by the Epoch Times.’

Meanwhile Harvard students are losing job offers over their student groups’ violent and anti-Semitic statements following the Hamas attack. In a very well worth watching video on the wider politics of the Israel-Hamas war, historian and commentator Victor Davis Hanson points out that many, if not most, liberal MSM outlets and even Universities and Democrat Senators are finally swinging right round and behind Israel.

Note, too, his comments on Donald Trump and the success of his foreign policy which was immediately trashed by Joe Biden, leading to the nightmare of the war going on now.
