We have been watching the political fall-out from events at the southern border of the United States. The rhetoric at times has been hysterical and dangerous, reaching its peak when rape threats were made against the children and grandchildren of President Trump.
The truth is that we are an island nation and have no experience of what it is like have a land border which people attempt to breach illegally in their hundreds every day. The only land border we do have is on another island and is not a traditional border. People enjoy complete freedom of movement between the two countries.
This CNN video of a US border patrol agent is the one thing that I thought would aid our understanding of the issue, as opposed to pouring more oil on an uninformed fire.
