DANIEL Hannan is without doubt our best national orator today. I have never thanked Boris Johnson for anything before, but whatever his motivation was for elevating the former MEP to the House of Lords, I thank him for that. It’s one of the few things we can celebrate in these ghastly times. And by the look of Lord Hannan’s wonderful contribution below, it may come back to bite the PM.
If Hannan carries on using his peerage to this effect Mr Johnson for the first time might find some serious opposition on hand and a serious competitor for the Conservative Party leadership. It has happened before.
In the meantime, sit back and enjoy this master class in speech-making. While we have a politician with this ability, hope for our country has not died.
