Who will impeach the terrible trio?

OVER the past month, first-term US Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib have revved up their antics in Congress. It’s difficult to keep up with them.

In February the terrible trio called for cuts to Homeland Security, a signifier of them actively working against the security interests of the US. Despite being touted as ‘progressives’, these women are anything but. Their embrace of socialism and Islamism outs them as regressive agitators against the free West.

Last month Omar demanded that President Donald Trump call for the release of Hoda Abdelmonem, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. This, her counter-action to Trump’s plan to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, spoke volumes. Despite her and others’ attempts to paint them as ‘peaceful activists’, the Brotherhood are known to be dedicated to jihad and to establishing a caliphate.

In response to 700 rockets recently fired on Israel by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Tlaib predictably took the side of these enemies of America and the Jewish state.  Her attempts to portray herself as a freedom fighter while tweeting blood libels about Israel belied it, revealing her rather to be a rabid anti-Semite.

Not to be outdone by her shrewder sisters, the witless Ocasio-Cortez has been calling for cuts to the US budget for military and economic aid to Israel. Strangely, she didn’t demand the same for Pakistan, an Islamist dictatorship which imprisons Christians for blasphemy, to which the US government gives millions annually.

I have written previously of these women’s anti-Semitic influence on the Democrats. They are also astonishingly anti-American. Out of the three, Omar is emerging as front-runner in a tough competition to be the most treacherous. She does not restrict her hatred to Jews but also scorns American soldiers and victims of Islamist terrorism, recently mocking the intense tone that her college professor took when mentioning al-Qaeda shortly after their affiliate, Al-Shabab, murdered 80 innocents in a Kenyan mall.  She has also described the terror attack on 9/11 as ‘some people did something’, diminishing the suffering of victims of both Islamist terror attacks.

In 2017, as a state representative in Minnesota, Omar gave yet another example of her ‘America bad, Islamists good’ worldview when she falsely accused American soldiers in Somalia of mass murder and alluded to them being satanic. She was referring to the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in which a dozen US soldiers died protecting Omar’s tribe, the Majerteen, from Islamist militants. Veterans can be forgiven – from her lack of gratitude – for thinking their comrades died needlessly.

In fact Omar and her family fled the same Islamist militants to a refugee camp on the Somali border.  Perhaps she would have preferred to have spent the rest of her life languishing there rather than being given sanctuary in the US, where those American soldiers arguably delivered her a privileged future in the highest echelons of US politics, and the freedom to whine about how dreadful her adopted homeland is.

So why her inexplicable vitriol towards the country which gave her safety and opportunity? Why such ingratitude? At times Omar appears little more than a Muslim Brotherhood entryist into Congress with sycophantic supporters lining up to make excuses for her.

Muslims have equal rights in America, something denied to Christians and other minority groups in many Islamic countries. Assaults on Muslims are indeed increasing in the US, which is of grave concern. So too are they on Jews, the group subjected to largest number of attacks. Violent assaults on Jews in New York State increased by 55 per cent in 2018 in comparison with 2017.

The terrible trio’s talk of freedom, racism and victims become meaningless when they mainly ignore attacks on Jews while simultaneously inflaming hatred toward them. Their hypocrisy is compounded by their collective silence on the most pressing issue of our time – not climate change, as much as Greta ‘I see carbon emissions’ Thunberg tries to convince inept politicians – but the global persecution of Christians which is reaching genocidal proportions, described here and detailed here. A most heinous example is taking place in Somalia, one of worst countries for Christians to live in.

They face persecution not only from Al-Shabab militants but also from their own families and communities if they converted from Islam. A complicit government enforces strict adherence to Sharia law and frequently acquiesces to Al-Shabab’s demands to shut down churches. Al-Shabab have made it known that their goal is to kill every Christian in Somalia.

Are the Western Left so paralysed by self-hatred that they cannot call out true injustice where it exists? This cowardice is compounded by accusations of racism aimed at anyone who criticises the terrible trio on their anti-Semitism.

Isn’t there anything that Congress can do to impeach or expel the terrible trio? The Democrat leadership clearly cannot be relied on to discipline them. They have already sunk into a quagmire of their own making by doubling down on denials that their party has an anti-Semitism problem. That they are prostituting themselves for the Left and Islamist vote was recently made apparent by Nancy Pelosi’s inviting a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood to recite the opening prayer in the House of Representatives.

There is too much at stake to continue being stupefied by such political correctness or held hostage by those who wish to destroy our Judeo-Christian way of life. Unless Americans roar their protests and punish quisling politicians at the ballot box, they will truly be the architects of their own demise.
