Why totalitarian China is no role model


VISITING Beijing, World Health Organisation director-general Tedros Adhanom extolled China as a model in the war against coronavirus. According to China’s state media, he gushed that ‘China’s speed . . . and efficiency . . . is the advantage of China’s system.’

Leaving aside the fact that it was Chinese eating habits which sparked the disaster, there are real dangers in the totalitarian approach to public health, warns Dr Josef Joffe in The American Interest. You can read his article here.
