Will this 5G challenge fall on deaf ears, too?

-

TODAY and tomorrow Michael Mansfield QC will be leading a team of barristers in a judicial review hearing contesting the manner in which 5G technology is being introduced throughout the UK. They will be questioning:

1.    The failure to provide adequate or effective information to the public about the risks of 5G, and how it might be possible for individuals to avoid or minimise such risks;

2.    The failure to provide adequate and sufficient reasons for not establishing a process to investigate and establish possible risks to health;

3.    The failure to consider evidence which points to adverse effects on health;

4.    The failure to meet the standards of transparency and openness required of a public body.

It will be interesting to see what kind of excuses are dished up to justify these glaring failures.

I was alerted to the dangers of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) when a close relative who had been enthusiastically immersing himself for some time in the latest WiFi technology developed disturbing symptoms including headaches and severe insomnia. After wireless was replaced with cables in his home and working environments, and he adopted a more judicious approach to the temptations of the all-singing, all-dancing mobile phone, the symptoms disappeared, though he continues to react adversely to public places liberally doused in WiFi, or private gatherings alive with ‘smart’ technology.

My initial reaction was that both his symptoms and their relief were the work of the imagination. After all, we have repeatedly been told that low-thermal microwave radiation is perfectly safe. Then I came across Emeritus Professor Martin Pall’s e-book setting forth ‘Compelling Evidence for Eight Distinct Types of Great Harm Caused by Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Exposure’. In this meticulously enlightening freebie, Professor Pall not only lists more than 170 peer-reviewed studies illustrating the eight distinct types of harm in question; in addition, he tackles the charge that there is no mechanism which would account for these diverse harms, offering persuasive evidence that they are all related to the activation of ‘voltage-gated calcium channels in the cell, allowing calcium ions (Ca2+) to flow into the cell’. Professor Pall’s paper advancing this hypothesis was placed on the Global Medical Discovery website as one of the top medical papers of 2013, and has been widely cited since. It should be required reading for all those ‘experts’ stampeding us recklessly into the technological unknown.

Pall’s warning regarding the non-thermal health effects of microwave frequency EMFs is backed up by no fewer than 258 EMF scientists from 44 nations, plus 15 scientists from 11 supporting nations, who are petitioning the UN on behalf of the public for ‘Protection from Non-ionizing Electromagnetic Field Exposure’. It appears that their reasonable request is falling on deaf ears, as policy decided at a global level by bodies beyond the control of mere electorates is obediently rolled out by local functionaries.

No use asking our ‘democratic representatives’ to look at the evidence for themselves. In a correspondence lasting from April 2018 until May 2019, I begged the Mayor of North Tyneside (then also acting mayor of the North of Tyne Combined Authority – an unelected body which, without a by-your-leave, has insinuated itself between national and local governments, leaching power from our submissive local council) to hold a public meeting where all the current scientific research would be presented and thoroughly debated. After all, surely we should be subjected to yet more intense irradiation only after our fully informed consent had been made possible and obtained!

Mayor Norma Redfearn repeatedly refused either to arrange such a meeting or to weigh the evidence. Instead, she chose to hide behind the assertions of Public Health England, who themselves blindly followed the lead of the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP).  Professor Pall contests the stance of the ICNIRP in the preface to his e-book. His well-evidenced views, and those of hundreds of other EMF scientists, are being studiously ignored by politicians in thrall to a select and blinkered coterie of ‘experts’.

Doesn’t all this sound familiar?  Once again, as with Covid, as with anthropogenic climate change, we find ourselves being channelled into highly suspect policies through the elimination of dissenting voices in a ruthlessly circumscribed debate. As with Covid, as with anthropogenic climate change, human needs are being discounted in the service of rigid and highly questionable ideologies supporting rule by a technocratic elite.

We do not need 5G to enhance our lives. Our smart phones are already smart enough. We do not need a technology which will enable blanket surveillance and control by whoever may happen to be holding the reins of power, both now and in the future. What we need is a proper investigation into the harms, and protection against the effects, of the EMF technologies which, in the opinion of Professor Pall and the signatories of the petition to the UN, are already undermining the health and the reproductive ability of ourselves and our families.

Unswerving in her faith in The Science as exemplified by Public Health England, and carelessly dismissing a whole swathe of EMF scientists, Mayor Redfearn’s final words to me were, ‘I understand your very strong views on this matter; however my position remains the same as outlined in my previous correspondence.’

My response to her intransigence was as follows: ‘For the record, I state once more that I do not consent to the irradiation of myself and my family by a technology which, at the time of its proposed installation, has been identified as a source of danger in numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers, and I will hold my representatives accountable for the decision to disregard the warnings of experts in the field of EMFs,  which, as noted here, have been specifically drawn to the attention of yourself and all North Tyneside’s councillors.’

Best wishes to Michael Mansfield and his team as they make their judicial appeal on our behalf.
