Woke culture grooms children to identify as dogs

RECENTLY a colleague told me of a friend of his, a teacher, who has two pupils at her school who claim to identify as dogs.

For obvious reasons I shan’t divulge any of the finer details, only the most salient: that the students cannot be taught in fully the same way as their peers, teachers must contend with excessive amounts of associated paperwork, and the pupils’ ‘status’ is backed up by their parents.

Such hyper-obsessive deference to woke culture has nothing to do with morality, and everything to do with what actually constitutes a calculated, top-down deconstruction of identity.

Encouraged into increased infatuation with who or what we are (or think we are) by a political and media landscape polluted by wokery, goading us into confused distraction, we fail to notice that as society is reconstructed around their expanding list of novel demographics, our autonomy as a collective is being swallowed piecemeal by the accompanying, burgeoning social rulebook of political correctness.

It is the classic divide and conquer stratagem, employed so devastatingly throughout the pandemic, at work again: foster social divisions where none existed before, and you forge a disharmonious climate ripe for personal gain.

I am referring not to a tiny minority of adults, but to the impressionable youth who adopt any and all fads presented to them via the mass media. Call me callous, but I don’t believe for a second that the growing numbers of young gender non-conformists sincerely feel trapped within a body they maintain they were never destined to inhabit, but are rather suffering from mental health issues. That their supposed crises of identity may now be beginning to transcend gender, and make forays into the absurdity that is species non-conformism, only further cements my opinion. 

People who identify as or with animals are known as Furries. According to furscience.com, the public face of the International Anthropomorphic Research Project (IARP): ‘The term furry describes a diverse community of fans, artists, writers, gamers, and role players. Most furries create for themselves an anthropomorphised animal character (fursona) with whom they identify and that can function as an avatar within the community.’

However, ‘a small subset of furries (less than 10 per cent), called Therians, believe they are less than (or more than) 100 per cent human, or are an animal trapped in a human body’.

Whether or not an individual identifies with or as an animal should hold no sway with educators or parents. That any aspect at all of a fursona is yielded to anywhere, let alone within a school setting, is indicative not only of the intensifying disruptive power of state-sponsored wokery, but is also a sorry sign that, as was exemplified throughout the pandemic, children are becoming less and less cherished with every passing year.

Why reinforce such identity disorientation in adolescents when it is so obviously detrimental to their wellbeing, and when even NHS gender dysphoria guides state that in many cases such behaviour disappears as children reach puberty? How much more true this must be when it comes to supposed species dysphoria. In either instance children need thorough psychological assessment as the recommended first port of call, not blind endorsement.

As if children don’t have enough identity issues to contend with at school already, tip-toeing across the mushrooming, trendy woke minefield of dubiously diagnosed behavioural and learning disabilities (read Gail MacDonald’s TCW piece on the subject here).

During the pandemic, despite Covid-19 posing no mortal threat to them, young people were all but suspended from their childhoods in order, incredibly, to shield the adult population: a sort of temporary perversion of evolutionary progress. 

Now, and in a strange sort of inversion of the aforementioned, it appears they are being frequently granted free licence to dictate the behaviour of adults, often powerless to intervene, by asserting their disturbing penchants for androgyny, or even anthropomorphism, unchallenged.

This amounts to a two-way street of disrespect: children falsely see themselves as equal to adults, from whom they no longer assume they have anything to learn (perhaps they are right!) and adults give succour to this by treating children as far beyond their years when in reality they are more fragile and naive than ever before.

A 12-year-old is not an autonomous agent: not an adult, but a fragile fledgling. If he or she declares themself part animal, or genderless, then they are most likely appealing to those around them for enhanced stability and love, not unquestioning acceptance of their adopted choice of persona. The boom in adolescent identity dysphoria, whether related to gender or species, is surely a cry for help.

The IARP says that more than 75 per cent of furries are under the age of 25, and according to various online sources, in the last five to ten years the number of adolescents, particularly girls, presenting with gender-related distress has rocketed. Yet, although the IARP cautions about drawing parallels between furries and gender non-conformists, both demographics surely fall under the umbrella of identity-confused.

I am not transphobic, but it seems clear to me that this troubling situation is symptomatic of a universal collapse in mental and spiritual health, doubtless inflamed by addiction to social media, and not humanity biologically sprouting identity-fluid versions of itself.

Such credence given to this emerging dystopian trend only feeds the escalating, new-normal woke war of identity, the ultimate aim of which is the formation of a bickering, pronoun-obsessed, dehumanised race of confused automatons, preoccupied entirely with self, whose only function is to service the demise of all that traditionally makes life worth living.
